As consumers increasingly seek out gluten-free and healthier snack options, brands are turning to alternative ingredients such as chickpeas, gluten-free oats, black beans, and green peas. Hippeas, a chickpea-based snack brand, focuses on creating better-for-you versions of popular snacks like puffs and tortilla chips. Chicago-based granola brand Ms. P’s Gluten Free has gained traction in the gluten-free market, expanding its presence in Whole Foods and Mariano’s stores. PepsiCo’s Frito-Lay is also exploring these ingredients, aiming to incorporate their nutritional value into their well-known brands. Hippeas chose chickpeas due to their superfood benefits and sustainable farming practises. Both brands emphasise their gluten-free, dairy-free, and allergen-friendly options, catering to health-conscious consumers. The market for gluten-free CPG snacks is expected to grow, driven by gluten-related disorders and health consciousness.
