Allbirds has unveiled the design of its zero-carbon shoe, named the “M0.0NSHOT,” at the Global Fashion Summit in Copenhagen. The shoe achieves a carbon footprint of 0.0 kilogrammes CO2e without relying on carbon offsets. It is primarily made of carbon-negative regenerative wool and features a unique moulded logo component made from methane-capture bioplastic. Allbirds has also released a toolkit for other businesses to create their own versions of the shoe. The toolkit, called “Recipe B0.0K,” outlines the shoe’s materials, manufacturing process, and carbon footprint calculation. Allbirds plans to launch the shoe commercially in the Spring of 2024. The company aims to demonstrate that sustainability and commercial viability can go hand in hand and plans to integrate the philosophy and materials into other areas of its business.
