Clothing and shapewear brand Spanx is launching its first retail pop-up series, commencing this month with events in New York City, Washington, D.C., and Miami. Following these pop-ups, Spanx will introduce its collection at the London location of department store Selfridges from November 20 to December 22, with the possibility of extending the offering beyond the holiday season. This move signifies a focus on Spanx’s apparel products as part of an experiential retail strategy. While the brand already sells its shapewear and apparel online and through various retailers, these pop-ups will provide a unique, interactive experience with artwork by artist Nkosi Ndlovu highlighting the female experience. Spanx’s foray into the pop-up model follows a leadership team reshuffle in October 2022, with Kim Jones becoming CEO and a majority stake acquisition by Blackstone, valuing the brand at $1.2 billion, while founder Sara Blakely retained a significant stake and the role of executive chairwoman.
