Pepsico’s Pep+: Integrating sustainable practices into the business

Pepsico, Purchase, NY, is elevating sustainable standards with its Pep+ (Pepsico Positive) initiative. The effort, which began in 2021, intends to bring sustainability to all aspects of Pepsico’s operations, from agriculture and ingredients through production and consumer-facing final goods. Positive agriculture, positive value chain, and positive choices are the three essential pillars that reflect these areas in the value chain. Rachael Lawrence, Pepsico’s senior director of sustainability, stressed the necessity of working with other corporations and government agencies to make a difference in decreasing plastic waste. Pepsico has eliminated 14 million pounds of virgin plastic by switching from bags to boxes, and it is educating consumers about the agricultural effect of its Lay’s potato chips.
