Persil has included upgraded QR codes on its packaging to assist blind and partially sighted individuals. The codes were developed by the augmented reality business Zappar in collaboration with Unilever and the Royal National Institute of Blind People, and they function in tandem with Zappar’s accessibility application, Zapvision. When scanned, they display large-format text or voice instructions, safety warnings, and recycling information to the customer through the app. According to Peter ter Kulve, Unilever’s VP of Home Care, the accessible QR code makes Persil completely accessible to them for the first time.
