PepsiCo is introducing paperboard packaging to replace plastic rings on its multi-pack bottles in the U.S. The transition is part of its Pep+ (PepsiCo Positive) initiative aimed at reducing packaging waste and follows the company’s shift to paperboard packaging for its brands in Canada. PepsiCo plans to replace plastic rings with recyclable paperboard wraps and clips for brands like Pepsi, Pepsi Zero, MTN Dew, Gatorade, and 7Up. The move aligns with PepsiCo’s goal to cut virgin plastic from nonrenewable sources by 50% by 2030 and expand reusable beverage offerings. The company joins a growing trend among consumer goods companies seeking eco-friendly packaging solutions to advance sustainability targets.
