Global companies Amcor, Delterra, Mars, and Procter & Gamble (P&G) have formed a strategic partnership to combat plastic pollution in the Global South, including Africa, Latin America, parts of Asia, and Oceania. The companies have committed $6 million over the next five years to scale up circular plastic economy solutions. The collaboration aims to develop waste management and recycling systems in regions lacking infrastructure to address plastic pollution. The partnership will leverage resources and expertise to create effective waste management infrastructure and promote circular business models. It will focus on designing waste out of the plastic economy, optimising recycling and composting processes, and enhancing traceability solutions for sustainable material sourcing. The initial phase will prioritise providing access to waste management and recycling systems for 10 million people in Indonesia, Argentina, and Brazil.
