Bakeries are going beyond the sweet foods due to surged demands for savoury flavours

A majority of consumers are seeking savoury flavours in their baked goods and snack foods. This trend is likely driven by the fact that many consumers are looking for nontraditional savoury tastes, which is the opposite of sugary products. The Kroger Company’s 2022 Food Trends Report revealed two observations; one is that umami is fuelling innovation in the bakeries. The other one is that Trader Joe’s has been successful at introducing Everything But the Bagel potato chips and seasonings. Bakeries like Brite Donuts & Baked Goods, Aya Pastry, and Sugargoat Sweets offer a delicious blend of sweet and savoury flavours to delight their buyers.
