Juice maker Ocean Spray, luxury retailer Neiman Marcus, packaging and paper company DS Smith, and material handling trade association MHI have joined the Supplier Leadership on Climate Transition collaborative. The programme, launched by consultancy Guidehouse, aims to help companies’ suppliers reduce, track and report their climate emissions. Partners sponsor their suppliers’ participation in the programme, providing access to workshops on emissions tracking and disclosure and mentoring from Guidehouse experts. The initiative is designed to offer a scalable, cost-effective solution to the challenge of addressing supply chain emissions, or Scope 3 emissions, according to Guidehouse. The programme currently includes a range of companies, such as PepsiCo, Coca-Cola and Nestlé North America, among others. Scope 3 emissions can represent the largest share of climate footprints in industries with large supply chains, such as retail.
