Unilever is revamping its supply chain strategy and adopting what it calls game-changing technology like artificial intelligence (AI) and satellite imaging. By the end of next year, the firm hopes to have a deforestation-free supply chain for palm oil, paper and board, tea, soy, and cocoa.

Unilever expects to gain total visibility by deploying these technologies. This enables a deeper examination of the “important” first mile, which is subject to sourcing-related challenges. By the end of the year, Unilever expects to have 95% of its business activities on the cloud.
