Fresh and freshly cut vegetables and fruits firm Fresh Del Monte Produce has invested in Decapolis, a blockchain firm. Decapolis’ technology promises to enable visibility into all stages of manufacturing, from planting to purchasing. Consumers will be able to view a comprehensive record of product information by scanning a QR code through the label. Throughout the manufacturing process, the technology logs assessments and establishes a chain of records. Del Monte joins other brands in investing in technology to improve traceability and monitoring across the value chain. Mars, Inc. has launched a new digital traceability solution to handle supply chain difficulties and consolidate data from disparate ERP and warehouse management systems. Similarly, Nestlé recently announced a new project to combat child labour in cocoa production and improve supply chain traceability using secure mobile services.
