According to reports, Chipotle Mexican Grill has begun testing several new technologies. Chipotle’s new kitchen management system is now being tested at eight restaurants in Orange County, California, and is powered by operational optimisation technology solution provider PreciTaste. PreciTaste’s technology analyses both real-world and food operations simulation data to develop algorithms that maximise performance. Chipotle is testing a cook-to-needs kitchen management system in select Southern California locations, providing demand-based cooking and ingredient preparation predictions to enhance throughput and freshness while eliminating food waste. Using artificial intelligence and machine learning, the system checks ingredient levels in real time and tells the crew how much to prep, cook, and when to begin cooking, all while automatically filling out real-time production planning for each restaurant. Chipotle’s Chippy, which combines culinary traditions with artificial intelligence to create tortilla chips, has been moved from the Chipotle Cultivate Center to an in-restaurant installation. Chipotle’s contextual restaurant initiative, which makes use of Radius Networks’ Flybuy technology platform, is now being tested in 73 restaurants in Cleveland, Ohio. Early results show that enhanced in-store incentive engagement, order alert alerts, and efficiency with early assignments for marketplace delivery drivers lead to higher performance.
