Tyson Foods aims to transform its supply chain in the coming year through a widespread productivity program that includes the creation of more smart, efficient factories. The company’s CEO, Donnie King, outlined the program in five key pillars, including transforming the team member experience, growing with customers, investing in digital and automation, restoring competitiveness in the chicken segment, and leveraging financial strength. Nearly $600 million has been invested into the business in the first quarter to capitalize on projected demand growth over the next decade. Recent innovations include automated sandwich and burrito assembly, a robotic tray pack machine, and improved inventory visibility through data analytics. Tyson Foods has been focusing on digital innovation and automation, investing in Soft Robotics and investing in artificial intelligence and predictive analytics. The company’s productivity plan includes opening 12 new factories, a significant portion of which will go toward automation and tech, digitization, and advanced analytics in the prepared foods sector.
