PepsiCo Lab’s innovation and creative culture is leveraging digital technologies

David Schwartz is the vice president of PepsiCo Labs, a specialised team tasked with leveraging digital technologies. He claims to adopt a four-step method to leveraging creativity in his work at the food and beverage conglomerate. In 2023, PepsiCo will host six startup programmes, with one of the major themes being sustainability.

So far, the company has assisted in the growth of more than 30 startups, including WINT (which uses AI to prevent water leaks in PepsiCo factories), Security Matters (a digital tracking system for sorting and recycling waste), tech by UBQ Materials (which converts household waste such as unrecyclable plastic into a bio-based material), and Pulse Industrial (AI-based failure-detection technology for production factories).
