Coty, a beauty company that owns brands like Marc Jacobs and Rimmel, has partnered with 3D social platform Spatial to create an internal metaverse for upskilling its global workforce. The Coty Campus, set to launch in fall 2023, will be a first-of-its-kind virtual training platform, allowing employees worldwide to collaborate through customisable avatars, vocal chat discussions, and file sharing. The platform will use gamification to reward employee engagement through item collection, location exploration, and quest fulfilment. While consumer goods companies have been exploring the potential of the metaverse for sales and marketing efforts, Coty’s exploration of its potential within enterprise operations is still relatively new. With nearly 55% of consumers wanting to be active users of the metaverse and 90% wanting to do so within the next year, the metaverse trend is still on the rise.
