Grupo Bimbo SAB de CV is expanding sustainability projects by launching regenerative agriculture pilot tests both in Mexico and the United States. The company considers agriculture to be the chief contributor to the largest proportion of Bimbo’s Scope 3 greenhouse gas emissions. No-till/low-till farming, cover crops, and crop rotation are some of the practises that come under regenerative agriculture. To pilot these projects, Bimbo is working with the International Wheat and Maize Improvement Center in Mexico. The company is set to reach net zero by 2050 with certain targets for 2030 and 2040. It is also expanding the use of electric vehicles and highlighting the benefits of grain-based foods to reach this goal.
