PepsiCo pledged to replace single-use plastic packaging with refillable containers across its portfolio

PepsiCo has pledged to reduce its single-use plastic packaging by 50% across its global beverage sector by 2030. The beverage giant has taken the pledge in response to the shareholder proposal filed by As You Sow. The shareholder urged PepsiCo to cut the use of virgin plastic and set stronger refillable and sustainable goals. Following The Coca-Cola Company, PepsiCo has also agreed to replace 25% of its beverages’ single-use packaging with refillable containers. PepsiCo has informed As You Sow that it would craft its sustainability goals per system capabilities, consumer preferences, and market opportunities. Further, the beverage firm would announce the final size of its commitment by the end of this year.
